Williams Hunt Group used Vehicle
I recently purchased a used 2019 Opel Mokka from Williams Hunt end of March 2021 with a cash deposit of R100000. The odometer reading was just over 24000km. During the weekend (15-16 May 2021) I started hearing loud grinding noises every time I drove the vehicle. I took the vehicle back to the dealership first thing Monday 17 May 2021. The salesman took the car for a test drive not more that 10 minutes and he confirmed this. It was decided that I should book the car in for them to check it. During the day I got a call and later an email (from management) that I must pay for the damages worth over R9000 because I have driven the car for over 2 months(5000km). They even told me I may have been driving the car incorrectly?!?. I have had my drivers license since 2008! This is 13 years! This is car is my thrid car since I have had my drivers license. I am very disappointed with Williams Hunt Group as I thought they would be a trust worthy dealership. The Consumer Protection Act (CPA) legislation endorses the issues of safety by providing for a mandatory warranty of six months which allows a consumer to return a product should it fail to perform or gets faulty within the six months period after delivery to a consumer. A consumer who has bought a used vehicle that exhibits defects within a period of 6 months of buying it, has a right in terms of the CPA to return the vehicle to the dealership for repair or replacement of faulty components or a refund of money paid for the vehicle.
