William Hunt The Glen service negligence
I took my car in for a minor 105 000 km service at Williams Hunt The Glen on the 1st of October 2019, when I collected the car I was assured that everything was 100% on the car. After a few days a noticed a few drops of oil in my garage but because it was only a few drops after a few days, I thought it may have been residue from the draining of oil from the service. On Friday the 11th of October, I had to travel to my uncle's funeral in Vryheid, KZN. When I filled in petrol in Johannesburg, I asked the petrol attendant to check the water and oil and he said everything was perfect. When approaching Newcastle, the car started giving me the oil light on the dashboard. When I arrived in Newcastle, I asked the guys to check the oil level and it was completely empty. I bought 3 x oil pints and only noticed when they were pouring that as they pour, the oil comes out underneath completely. When I checked underneath, the sump plug wasn't there at all. So I decided to push the car to a safe parking bay and book a hotel for the night. On Saturday morning I woke up and bought the sump plug, with a spanner to tighten it and called Williams Hunt The Glen, spoke to Louise. Louise advised that I should call a GM dealer near me to have the car assessed before driving or switching it on any further and they will then liaise between themselves as dealers going forward. Isuzu Newcastle came and drove the car to their workshop and said on Monday they would give me an assessment report. Yesterday Isuzu Newcastle called at 10:44 and told me they have not had a chance to look at the car but will do when I they get a gap. I told them I do not have accommodation, I have missed my uncle's funeral and I have to keep taking leave at work for every day the car is with them. At 15:30 I went to Isuzu dealership and they still had not touched the car. I then called Louise at Williams Hunts to advise her and she transferred me to Natasha who said she was going to call the Manager at Isuzu Newcastle so they could give this the urgent attention it required. It is now Tuesday, no one has called me back or advised me about any developments regarding the assessment. I am paying to sleep at a hotel on a daily basis because of this breakdown, I am immobile, I have to walk to the dealership for feedback, I have missed my uncle's funeral. Who will take care of these expenses that I am incurring on a daily basis? I have to be extended leave on a daily basis and things are getting sour at work because I had deadlines to submit and present and this doesn't seem to be a legitimate reason to not report to work. Why have I not been offered another car to drive if the car has complications and needs further check ups, why have they not offered me a place to sleep as I was stuck in a foreign town on my way elsewhere? Why am I not getting any feedback from both dealerships?
