Volkswagen Strijdom Park - PATHETIC SERVICE!!!
In February 2018 I had purchased a nice little Toyota Yaris. So I needed a daily car and I was banking on a Polo 6. The salesman calls me saying a Toyota Yaris (90400kms) came in and it's going at a good price. So I headed down to the dealer and viewed, even took it for a test drive. The salesman tells me it's due for its 90000km service and he will sort that out with the dealership. I decided to take this Yaris. By that week Friday I collected the car. The next week I dropped it off for the 90000kms service (by then the clock read 91000kms).
On the Sunday my Dad decides to take the car to church. When he came back his exact words were "Why does this engine sound funny". I thought that's how all these 3 cylinder engines sound (I'm sure you know all 3 cylinders sound weird). So 2 weeks go by and another friend of mine said that this engine doesn't sound right. So once again I didn't think much of it because of the 3 cyclinder engine tone.
BUT THEN... Coming home one night. Cruising on the freeway the engine light and oil light start flashing and beeping. And the engine had a loud ticking noise. Car switched off... So I pulled over on the freeway and I could get a burning oil smell. We called a towtruck and towed the car home. I called the dealership and explained what happened. At this point the car was on 95000kms. They did an investigation to find out the motor was completed toasted. Conrod shot through the block and 1 piston hit the head (few valves were bent etc). So according to the dealership it was "Driver fault". HOW can this be possible when my tracker report clearly states I was doing 106kmh on the N1 South?!
According to CPA the dealership has to Replace (for same value), Refund or Repair your vehicle within that 6 month period after purchase. This dealership says they do not fall under CPA... Yeah right ?! (Bear in mind I purchased the Vehicle in February and the motor broke in April)
We requested a meeting with the DP of the dealership to discuss how this will be resolved. They offered to replace my Yaris with a Ford Fiesta at 35k more than what I paid for my Yaris. Which will result in my installment going up? I dont think so. The dealer principle tells my Dad and I a replacement engine is R100 000 without providing any formal quote. R100k for a small 1.0l 3 cyclinder engine? Right...
So my Yaris has been laying at the dealership for the past 7 Months without ANY help from this useless place. (All installments have been paid without any issues or hesitations)
So thank you to VW Strydompark for your pathetic service and terrible assistance during this matter.
