Volkswagen SA Disgrace!!!
I want to know if it’s fair that when I purchased my 4th VW that I would be getting the service I'm getting now!
I purchased a brand new VW Jetta 1.4 TSI in 2014 with an extended motor plan.
This car started having issues within the first 3 - 4 months. The EPC & engine light comes on, and then the car shudders and loses power and becomes undriveable.
The car went in for a diagnostic test to find it was a faulty injector problem. It was changed and it lasted a year.
There after the year the problem occurred often, for example it happened at 6 months then a few times at 3 months to a point when I use my car for a week and it happens again. The last two occasions the problem happened a day after picking up the car. On the 18th July 2019 I picked up my car at the end of the working day, not even 24hrs I got stuck with the same issue. Whenever this happens I get the same story "It needs to go in for a Diagnostic Test so we can find the problem" the problem has still not be found or solved! I'm Tired of hearing the words DIAGNOSTIC TESTS because it did nothing to find the underline issue. They couldn't find the problem when I had a motor plan and they still can’t find it with Master Technicians and support from the technical departments, and now they telling me that I'm out of the motor plan. The car would sit at the dealerships from anything of a week to 3 months at a time. Only once did VW The Glen offer me a courtesy car and that too a faulty VW UP that I had to return the following day. They had the nerve to ask me to sign for the insurance access of R15000 which I refused because the access on my Jetta was R3000. Where did they come up with that figure like that for a VW UP? The other times I was never offered a courtesy car even when I asked for one considering I’m sitting without a car for 3 months, I never got it!!
When VW McDuling dealership told me my car has been fixed after sitting there for 3 months, I asked for some sort of a guarantee that this will not happen again as I’m out of patients and I don’t want to hear excuses. This was the response and I Quote from an EMAIL MEMO sent to me on the 04 July 2019 by Riette Saunders. This is 2 paragraphs of the email I got: " VWSA does take the necessary measures to ensure that we produce high quality vehicles. We believe our warranty is generous and affords our valuable customers enough time to attend to faulty parts and workmanship. However, we cannot predict the longevity of components involved in the day to day operation of the vehicle. Your vehicle was sold subject to the terms and conditions of a three (3) year / 120 000kms (Whichever occurred first) warranty, and a five (5) year / 120 000kms (Whichever occurred first) Volkswagen Automation Maintenance, which has expired" This lazy person never bothered to look at the cars history or point blank ignored it!!!
That’s I contacted Thomas Schaefer on Messenger on the 15th July 2019 regarding the matter, I got a call from Carol the very next day saying she’s from the managing directors office and she will assisting us with the issue at hand. She promised to get all reports requested and review the history of the vehicle to find a solution. I also asked numerous times to put all of this in an email and send it to me! They avoided it like a plague. I still don’t have anything! With confidence in the phone call from the director’s office I went and picked up my car after 3 months. This was the 18th July 2019 and same happed not even 24hrs of having my vehicle repaired!!!!! I called Carol from the side of the road when it happened, she was not at her desk and the guy that answered the phone said she would call back within 10minutes. She called the following day. How does that help? I call Michale after calling head office and he assisted me straight away. He sent a towing service to fetch the car from my residence. To date the car at the dealership, today is the 29 July 2019
I have requested the reports from the day I bought the vehicle to date to be emailed to me (WHICH I AM ENTITLED TO) so HIGHER MANAGEMENT can see that I have been having this issue from day one! From the Lenasia branch where I bought the vehicle (Where the problem started) to the Glen Branch, where they were absolutely useless in helping with anything to the McDuling branch where Michale has been helping us to date and has been trying his best to find a solution. He even wanted us to meet the regional manager to see what solution they can come up with, but to date ABSOLUTLY NOTHING! The regional manager is never available and is too busy to deal with me. I still don’t have the reports in my hand!
Today I got a call from Carol, she said that they have changed the parts that were giving problems and the car needs to be driven and tested. When asked what happens if this issue occurs again, what solution will they have for me? I was told that they will have to test the car AGAIN and see what the problem is. So therefore back to square one!! No solution!! I asked if I could speak to Thomas Schaefer directly I was told by Carol that he is not office bound and I cannot speak to him. Then I asked if he could call me and the response was he does not deal with such matters. So as a loyal VW client for over 20 years, I’m not important enough for the MANAGING DIRECTOR SA to contact me. They also refusing to give me Germanys Head Office Details with an excuse that it will come back to them anyway.
In the end I was sold a faulty car, that VW has never been able to resolve five years down the line. For over 20 years of being a loyal VW client this is the thanks I got. A nice kick in the ****! I will never again purchase a VW and I will spread the word far and wide!!! and on every social media I can find!!!
Utterly disgusted and disappointed in the brand I supported all of my driving life.
