Unhappy customer

23 November 2016: My Chevrolet Sonic 2013 was taken into Reeds Delta Cape Town Fores**** as it was using excessive water. The service consultant Lorenzo called and advised that I may collect the vehicle as it was only a clamp that was replaced. I questioned him if he was sure because I could not see any water leaks on the vehicle. I collected vehicle on the 23 November 2016.

24 November 2016: As I drove the vehicle I still experienced the vehicle using water. I immediately contacted Lorenzo and he said it is normal as the water runs through the radiation system. I was not happy with the response, but reluctantly said that I will monitor. I called Reeds to book the vehicle in as it was getting worse. The only next available date was the 29th November 2016.

I spoke to a Johan Smal and explained the situation, he said that his mechanics will look into it. Lorenzo called later that afternoon and advised me that the cylinder head gasket was blown and that the cylinder head had to go to the Engineers. Please see email comms sent on the 7 December 2016 for answers (no further progress reports provided).

7 December 2016: Hi Gents,

On the 29 November 2016, the Chevrolet Sonic in question was sent to be repaired. Estimated time given to fix was 5 working days. No loan vehicle was available at the time of my request, however no response to date has been received (still waiting re: loan vehicle).

I am stranded and need transport to work as I am an IT Engineer and use my vehicle daily for work purposes. Please provide an ETA of when I can expect the Chevrolet Sonic or alternative transport.

Your urgent response will indeed be appreciated.

Faizel Matthysen
