TYRES ON FORD RANGER COSTING A FORTUE
<p>It is a travisty that Ford Ranger sells you a vechile between R400 000-R500 000 knowing that the tyres does not even last you 8000km. The quality of the tyres are not good. When they need to be replaced Ford says it's Goodyear's problem and when they in turn tells you its Ford's responsibility. Many many people experience the same problem, however Ford still continues with this knowing it's a huge problem. Today I called Ford and yet again I was informed that Ford will not pay for the new tyres. We would like Ford to rectify this problem and I want to warn all potential Ford buyers, the bakkie is good, but the tyres are not good and it will cost you a fortune to replace them.</p>

Dear Thank you for your email regarding the tread wear condition on the customer’s Ford Ranger fitted with Goodyear Wrangler HP All-weather .
This tyre has been predominately designed for rolling resistance , wet and dry handling and low noise performance .
These performance parameters were specified by the specific Original Equipment ( Ford ) Vehicle Manufacturer’s Technical team in the request for development .
The tyre has been developed to meet the Original Equipment Vehicle Manufacturer’s ( Ford’s ) requirement and the tyre development and approval were completed following standard ( Ford ) Original Equipment Manufacturers procedure.
The tread wear condition of interest is not Goodyear manufacturing related . The rear axle tyres as well as the front axle tyres are the same specification and design ( as tested and accepted by Ford the Original Equipment Vehicle Manufacturer )
Chip and Chunk condition is an appearance and cosmetic phenomenon, there will be no impact on tyre performance
Chip and Chunk claims are not warrantable based on Goodyear EMEA warranty policy .
Goodyear does have product offerings with technology and performance that are more suitable for the South African operating conditions . In fact the Goodyear Wrangler ATSA+ tyres available in the replacement market do not exhibit this type of tread wear condition.
Our recommendation is that the customer should register this concern directly with Ford Technical customer care.

I met subject customer at TWT Vereeniging he is concerned about flaking on his vehicle tyres.
He mentioned that he has been to Ford dealership and they told him that he must go to TWT
Because they are no longer replacing tyres under their warranty and that Goodyear must is
Responsible for warranty on tyres.
