Taken for a ride

<p>I recently visited Reeds in N1 City after experienceing a slight jerk while my car was idling, and because the engine management light had gone on. </p> <p>The initial diagnostics said that there was a cylinder 1 misfire.</p> <p>I booked my car in for repairs on Friday 11 November 2016. I got a call later on that day saying that they were unable to proceed with any necessary decisions as the person needed for the job was not at work. I found it to be an oversight which resulted in me leaving my car at Reeds over the weekend, a possibility that was not communicated to me.</p> <p>The Monday following, I got an exorbitant quote and I was told that four injectors needed replacing. I enquired at another certified repair shop and they were suspicious as I was told that it was unlikely that four injectors would be faulty at once. </p> <p>I hesitated in giving Reeds the go-ahead and then got an offer from them that a foreman would be willing to replace A SINGLE INJECTOR at only the cost of the labour, which amounted to nearly a quater of the initial price, but there would be no guaratee on the workmanship. I am a female and do not know enough about cars, but the inital diagnostics of a cylinder misfire to a complete replacement of injectors made me suspicious. Later, discovering that I would have paid for four injectors when one needed to be replaced infuruated me as there was no transparecy and sufficient communication. </p> <p>I fetched my car and took it elsewhere and it was found that NO INJECTORS needed replacing as the cylinder 1 misfire amounted to a probem with the catalytic convertor. I paid just shy of R900 for an incorrect diagnosis. </p> <p>After rating my service as dissatisfactory, a consultant contacted me and I requested to speak to someone in a management position. This was nearly a week ago and I still await their call. </p>
