Reeds Bellville Misdiagnosis

My Fiat 500 developed a misfire, took it to Reeds Bellville for a diagnostic test. The thinking was that the Fiat dealership see these cars all the time and they'll be best placed to spot the problem. The message from Reeds was they could not find the problem but suspect blown head gasket- and need R10,000 to strip the engine and further look for the problem. The advice was declined, the car collected and dropped off at the mechanic at local garage. 30 Mins later the mechanic phoned to advise the car has a damaged spark plug coil, this was rectified and the misfire cured. My experience is that Reeds is best avoided for car servicing, I'm happy to have avoided sitting with a stripped engine when the actual problem is apparently a known Fiat 500 issue and easy to spot for a competent mechanic. Reeds was nonetheless happy to charge me R1500 for the "diagnostic test".
