Quoted R49 000.00 for a none faulty turbo

I recently took my Opel Corsa to Williams Hunt The Glen for its 120,000 km service. The vehicle was serviced with no issues and I collected the vehicle the same day in the afternoon.

After a few days on my way home from work, my vehicle suddenly went into engine protection along with the engine management light coming on. (This is within a week from the service)

I returned the vehicle to Williams Hunt The Glen to be inspected as they were the last to work on the vehicle.

They ran diagnostics and claimed to have performed a visual inspection. Afterward, I was told that the turbo was damaged and was quoted R49k to replace and fit a new turbo. I declined as I do not have R49k just laying around to replace a turbo and was charged R2300 for the time and labor for diagnostics (which is understandable)

I took my vehicle to my personal mechanic for a second opinion which within 5 minutes had found the fault. A bot that connects the Turbo wastegate to the wastegate actuator was broken off. My mechanic was able to fix this issue within 30min and did not even charge me as he said it was an "easy fix"

This clearly showed me that the workshop mechanic who worked on my vehicle only ran electronic diagnostics and did not even bother to perform the visual inspection that was promised (and paid for) I am appalled by the workshop service as I was informed I needed to replace my turbo which in fact actually had nothing wrong with it and was literally a small easy fix and cost nowhere near R49k
