Poor Workmanship / Service – Action Ford 201 Voortrekker Road Krugersdorp
I had my Ford Bantam booked for its 180,000km service on 09 November 2017 on the way home the 8th of November 2017 the heater control valve pipe broke. I had my vehicle towed to FORD the next morning of 9 November 2017. I mentioned I needed additional work done on the vehicle, the heater control valve had to be replaces as well as the headlights needed to be adjusted. I eventually had to phone Rihan Bezuidenhout regarding a quote on the vehicle after he promised to supply me with a quote as soon as the Parts department opened at 08:00. At 09:40 I still did not get a response and phoned Rihan. He gave me the quote and I disagreed on 3 items to be done on the vehicle and the balance was R5093.45 for the 180,000km service and the heater control valve. The Friday I went to several shops and on my return home I smelled hot water / steam and opened the bonnet to check if there was a leak. I could not see any leaks. What I did notice was the clamp they used to secure the one pipe to the heater control valve was an old second hand clamp (it stick out like a sore thumb as my vehicle compartment is clean and everything in place). Also the cover fitted over the heat control valve sensor was not even replaced properly and lying loosely in the firewall compartment. On Sunday 12 November I drove back from the local shopping centre when we had a thunderstorm, the windows was immediately covered with mist, I did as normal by setting the heater to max and the fan also to max, only to discover that the heater control valve was not working. I had to pull off my t-shirt to wipe the windscreen to prevent causing an accident. I mentioned to Rihan all the above and asked him to come up with a way to have this rectified without causing me additional discomfort. I have to take leave to have the vehicle service because I work in Centurion but stay Roodepoort. I cannot afford any more time off and I cannot see why I have to sacrifice my time if the work was done properly in the first place. To top it all the vehicle service book was also not stamped and signed. This was not the first issue I had with the same branch. I needed to bring this to the attention to hopefully someone than can make a difference and have my issue resolved. A factor to be considered is that there were 3 intakes of vehicles to be serviced, morning, and midday and night services. Ian from Ford contacted me on Monday to arrange for them to pick up the vehicle from my home and give me a car to use. I unfortunately had other commitments and only got home after 21:00, I requested he phoned me the next day to make alternative arrangements. Still waiting for the call. I also logged a complaint with FORD on the 13th and received two mails to say they will contact me in 24 to 48hr. Still waiting for them as well.
