Isuzu Motors South Africa
I purchased an Isuzu D max 1.9 Ddi LS A/T 4x2 D/C in July 2022. One of the standard features of the vehicle included a rear differential lock - a feature that I need, and I specifically chose the above-mentioned make & model for this very reason. I recently took my vehicle to Williams Hunt Isuzu in Centurion for its first service. Upon collecting my vehicle after the service, I was informed that there were some service instructions still to be carried out on the vehicle and that the parts must still be ordered. I was informed that the rear differential lock switch and control module must be removed as it was not supposed to be fitted with this equipment. I then queried this with the service advisor and informed him that I did not consent to removing said equipment from my vehicle as it was installed at the time of purchase. A few weeks later, I was contacted to inform me that the parts for the service recall had arrived and that I must take my vehicle in at my convenience to have the parts fitted while I waited. On the 2nd of October 2023, I took my vehicle to Williams Hunt Centurion as arranged. The issue of the rear differential lock switch & module removal surfaced again. I then specifically told the Service Manager that I did not consent to removing the equipment from my vehicle. He rep**** that it was an instruction from Isuzu Motors South Africa and that he was obliged to adhere to it (Aftersales Bulletin ***FCL1 - FA2212). I received my vehicle and informed the service manager, Mr Steven Burns, that I would pursue this matter further. Mr Steven Burns was very helpful and offered to open a query in this regard on my behalf. This query was logged with Isuzu Motors S.A. on the 3rd of October 2023 where I added my comments and have not been contacted by anyone yet. This is a violation of my right as a consumer and in contradiction to the "Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008: Sections 20 and 21 provide that consumers have a right to goods and services that are as described and of good quality. The removal of a standard feature breaches this right."
