How my life and my family's life was put at risk by Williams Hunt Midrand

My car went in for 60 000km in November, wherein I asked for the tyre sensors on my left side to be checked as they were not reading trye pressure, as well as the wiper water not coming out. The service advisor calls me to tell me that I cannot come pick up my car because there is a loose tyre locknut that has to be replaced. I agree, car sleeps at opel and I am to get it next day. Following day, I get to opel, pay for the locknut, and i am advised that the system is not working and therefore nothing can be done to check trye sensors and that I'll be called back once system is up and running. Also that the wiper water issue she will check with warranty, and if approved will order.

3 weeks go by without any call, until i call and enquire if system is not working yet. Claudina advises me that she was to call once she has the water wiper part,. I then advised her that I need the tyre sensors checked as it is December and I needed to travel. Then she advises I can bring it through. Indeed 4th December I take it and was advised that the tyre sensors are damaged and they will be ordered. In that process of checking the two sensors, apparently the procedure switches the other two sensors on the right and they will only be all calibrated once the new ones are fitted.

A week passes then an ESC Service message shows on the dashboard, followed by another message reading " forward collision system not available". Then it started having a funny idling sound that I am not used to, losing power on acceleration and a cranking sound when I turn steering wheel to the right. I call opel to book it in, which I took in on the 14 December 2020.

On picking up the car, Claudina advises me that as before i was told, the back breaks were finished. We then argue about that because she never told me about breaks. She then advised me that the ESC message had everything to do with the tyre sensors that were not working and that all was well. The ESC message cannot cause power loss, and no cranking sound was picked up., surely I was dreaming.

Dissatisfied with this service, I called opel again on the 15 December and asked to speak to the service manager, Gareth. Gareth advised me to bring the car on the 17th as the following day was a holiday (16th). Indeed I take the car on the 17th, after an hour am advised, with a report on hand, that nothing is wrong with the car. It's the tyre sensor issue, causing the esc message to appear, the idling is not an issue and may be sorted when new tyre sensors are fitted. I ask again, may I travel with the car and again the response is positive.

I set on my journey that is a 1000km going home. Monday the 21st I set out to do Xmas shopping with family. My sixth sense tells me to pass by Opel east london just to check if all the above will be confirmed or even be on the same page. I'm advised to book it in but I decide I'll do so after Xmas, after all my dealership, Midrand, had given me a go ahead to use the car. Having finished my Xmas shopping with family, I experience the rattling idle, wherein when I switched it off, trying to start it again, it refused. Now I panicked, and decided to book it in in east london asap. Tuesday 22nd December am stranded in Meyers motors, because it turns out one of the engine pistons is broken, and I cannot drive this car anymore.

This is after all my efforts to make sure that my car was in a good condition to drive home and be safe with my family.

It is disappointing to think opel Midrand allowed me to drive a car, maybe further damaging it and putting my life at risk. Who else do we trust if the dealerships will fail us. I definitely would have not driven my car in such a condition, now am stuck in east london, having to catch taxis to go home which is 220kms from the east london dealer and its pouring outside. Only in January can my car be looked at for repairs. How do I go back to work and move around whilst am home.

I must thank East London Meyers Motors for taking care and actually finding the fault with my car.
