Faulty wheel nuts on Ford Ecosport

My wife purchased a new Ford Ecosport 7 years ago. We had our first puncture in Umhlali on the North Coast of Kzn. The spare tyre was removed using the wheel spanner provided with the vehicle (still new never used) without any problem. However when it came to removing the puntured tyre we found that the wheel spanner did not fit any of the wheel nuts on that wheel or any of the other wheels. The business owner assisted and arranged for a mechanic to assist from a Ford dealer close by. When he arrived with his sockets he also experienced a problem and needed to hammer the socket onto the nuts to remove them. After the tyres were chaged we called on the Ford dealer in Umhlali to enquire as to why the wheel spanner did not fit the nuts. We were advised that the nuts provided on new vehicles was of a poor qualty and would need replacement. The cost of one nut was quoted as being R80.00. This nut issue was confirmed as an issue by Ford as well as Tiger Wheel and Tyre in Ballito. TWT said they had a box full of these bad wheel nuts where clients had to replace the nuts on their Ecosport vehicles. We replaced all the wheel nuts at TWT for only R20.00 a nut total cost of R360.00. My complaint is that if this had happened whilst my wife was on the road alone she have been unable to change her wheel. The sickening cost of R80.00 quoted to replace the nuts with exactly the same faulty nuts is shocking and should have been identified by Ford and rectified. I trust this review will come to their attention and that appropriate action is taken to rectify this issue.
