Do not buy an Opel in South Africa.
5 months ago, I bought a brand new Crossland X 1.2 from Reeds in Bellville. As you know, cars cost quite a lot, so its not like I can just change cars every 6 months or so.
5 days after collecting my car, the intellink system would not switch on for at least 5 minutes. From there, it did it every 2 weeks or so, I brought it to Reeds' attention from the 2nd time it had done it, but they had no idea what was going on with it and what to do. It took me going to the Bellville branch at least 7 times for them to try and fix it. I ended up driving a loan car of theirs for over a month while they were trying to fix my car. I was also told that if I damaged the loan car, I would need to pay an excess of 15k!
I was so fed up that I asked them to replace my car with a brand new one... But they refused. They did agree to import and replace the whole system, which I accepted and is working perfect now.
Last week my car reached its 10000km mark and the service light came on. I called Reeds in Bellville and Claremont today to find out if this is normal. They both just told me that it is not and that I should bring my car in to get checked out. I didn't really want to as I don't have the time to just keep popping in there every time something is up with my car. Anyway, eventually I spoke to Adrian at the Bellville branch and he let me know that there is an error on the Crossland X's as they were never set up correctly when arriving in SA. They should only be serviced at 15000km. So I was advised to just ignore the light.
I cannot believe that only 1 person at two Reeds branches only knows this. It seems that the staff don't even know the product that they selling.
I will never buy this brand again and I will be trading my car in as soon as I have paid enough of it off
