Bad Customer Service
Hi
January this year I did fetch my car at Opel Williams Hunt Roodepoort, for engine repair/change, as it had overheated. The car was fixed and my engine number changed.
2 days after I had fetched my car, the car started flashing an engine tab sign, and that sign it's simply a warning and an indication that something is seriously wrong, & I need to take the car to a trustworthy mechanic who can diagnosis the problem and make repairs.
I did report the matter to Opel, and nothing was done. My car started leaking oil, & i then booked the car again for repairs, and on the day of collecting the car, I realised that the car has an oil flashing sign. When asking Opel about that, i was told that the harnes wiring could not be changed because my warranty policy with Bidvest does not cover wiring, so they just replaced the switch.
I then immediately asked them why is the engine light still flashing, & i was advised that, i shouldn't worry the car it's fine, its just that the engine flashing sign is unable to be cleared.
The car started smoking, but not all the time, that happened sometimes when i switched the car on. So last month as I was on my way to Opel, to book my car for service, next to the engine flashing tab sign, the engine word (ENGINE)flashed, the car lost power, the entire antifreeze water leaked from the car, & the car immediately stopped, & i was unable to start the car again. I had to call my Budget insurance to come tow the car, & the tow truck did come, & the car was towed to Opel.
Now after all the engine reporting that i have done at Williams hunt Roodepoort, my car it's still not fixed, and i got a quote from Opel, saying that i have to pay R69 000 for the negligence that was done by the workshop. To start with, how can the workshop give the customer a car that has an engine flashing tab sign, after the engine repair has been done.
In total, the money that i've paid to Opel Williams Hunt, it's about R50 000, but i am still not happy about the service I got from them.
I did escalate my query to Opel SA and I was told that, I drove the car without oil and water, hence the car overheated. On the scene where I got stuck, the entire antifreeze water had leaked on the street, the guy that was sent by Opel to come check the car, he also saw that water, and as for the oil issue, how can i drive the car without filling up oil, I did not do that.
In May this year, I did send my car to Opel, as the oil was leaking, like I said earlier on. They replaced a switch, and they could have also picked up that the car had no oil at all. That simply means they did not check at all, Instead they used a black muskin tape to cover the switch. I complained about that muskin tape & I was told there's nothing they can do to join the switch, so they had to use muskin tape.
Please assist, as my car is still at Opel. Before sending my car to Opel for repairs, it had no engine tab flashing sign, and it also didn't have an oil flashing sign, but now my car has all of that. Am I being pushined by Opel just because I am a woman, and I know nothing about cars?
