We asked Certification Junction to assist with our Compliance Certificates when selling our home (Private Sale). We needed gas, electrical and plumbing certificates.
Firstly, during a time of a global pandemic - Covid-19 - not one member of the inspections team sanitised or cleaned their hands. Some of their hands were so dirty that I had to wash the walls and surfaces that they touched due to the handprints that were left behind.
I was home alone dealing with the inspection team as my husband was at work and I was still on leave. Obviously, being a solo female, they felt they could pull the wool over my eyes and I wouldn't have a clue what they were talking about.
The plumber quoted on installing a stop**** onto our property as we "didn't have one" and therefore weren't compliant. Except there is in fact a stop**** on the property.
The gas technician quoted on supplying and installing a Cadac Gas cylinder and went on to explain in big words why we weren't compliant. Little did he know while he was talking to me, that my husband works in the gas industry and supplies LPG as well as other gas. When I handed him my husband's business card, he suddenly got all sheepish and needed to leave. He said he would email my husband with the various "non-compliance issues" - We are still waiting a month later for this email. All we have received is the ridiculous quote.
But the best was the electricians. The quote came to over R15k and included things such as installing boxes onto open joints for 20 downlights (12 of which have only just been installed in the past year by a qualified electrician after renovations were done and actually do have boxes on the joints) and I was quoted R80 to ***** in a lightbulb, which my husband had already purchased and fitted in less then 30 seconds.
Overall the quotes were over R3k for gas, over R2k for plumbing and overR15k for electrical. On second opinion, we ended up paying R1k for gas, R1k for plumbing and R7k for electrical, saving ourselves well over R11k!!
After speaking to a colleague who has also used Certification Junction in the past, it turns out they took him for a ride too, overquoting on items because his wife was home alone dealing with the inspection team. Seems this is their modus operandi.
