I am sharing my experience in the hope that it encourages better treatment of tenants and greater accountability in the management of rental properties. From the beginning of my tenancy, I reported several maintenance issues within the unit, including blocked drains, unsanitary toilet conditions, mould concerns, and a faulty bathroom ventilation system. These issues were brought to the attention of the property management team shortly after I moved in, yet many remained unresolved for extended periods. One of the most serious concerns was the bathroom ventilation system, which remained non-functional for approximately eight months. This left the bathroom without adequate ventilation, resulting in persistent dampness and mould concerns. I repeatedly followed up on the matter and made management aware that I suffer from Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and that maintaining a healthy living environment was extremely important to my wellbeing. Despite this, the issue was not addressed within a reasonable timeframe. As a paying tenant, I expected legitimate maintenance concerns to be treated with urgency and professionalism. Instead, I found myself repeatedly chasing updates and following up on matters that should have been resolved much earlier. Throughout my tenancy, I found my interactions with Noelene Agnew particularly disappointing. In my experience, communication regarding my concerns often left me feeling dismissed, undermined, and unheard. Rather than working collaboratively to resolve issues that had been reported, I frequently felt that my concerns were being minimised despite the fact that they related to the condition and habitability of the property. I also experienced ongoing difficulties in my dealings with Veronica Rei. Communication was often delayed, responses were inconsistent, and matters frequently required multiple follow-ups before any progress was made. This created unnecessary frustration and gave the impression that tenant concerns were not being managed in an organised or efficient manner. What I find particularly concerning is that after continuously raising maintenance concerns and requesting that long-standing issues be resolved, my lease was ultimately terminated. While I cannot speculate on the reasons for this decision, the timing left me feeling that my legitimate concerns as a tenant were not welcomed. Following the termination of my lease, I fully cooperated with the move-out process and found an alternative apartment and attended the outgoing inspection as scheuduled. During the inspection, no concerns were raised regarding any unpleasant smell in the unit, and no such issue was recorded on the inspection report. However, approximately a week after I had vacated the property and returned the keys and a second follow up, I received communication alleging that there was a strange smell in the unit. I find this unacceptable. If such a concern genuinely existed, it should have been identified and documented during the outgoing inspection while I was present. Raising the issue a week later, after I no longer had possession of the property, is both unreasonable and unfair. Furthermore, when I moved into the unit, there were already drainage-related issues, including blocked drains and unsanitary toilet conditions. Given this history, there are numerous possible explanations for any odour, including plumbing issues, drainage infrastructure, or external drains. It is inappropriate to attribute a smell discovered after my departure to my tenancy without any supporting evidence. I am concerned that this allegation may be used as a basis to delay or withhold my rental deposit. I therefore expect my deposit to be refunded in full, subject only to any lawful deductions that can be properly substantiated and that were identified during the outgoing inspection. My experience has been one of repeated maintenance failures, poor communication, delayed responses, and a lack of accountability. Tenants should not be expected to live for months with unresolved maintenance issues, repeatedly chase property managers for assistance, or face new allegations after vacating a property and completing the required inspection process. I hope that this matter can still be resolved professionally and that my rental deposit will be refunded without further delay. Failing this, I am prepared to pursue the matter through the Rental Housing Tribunal and any other appropriate channels available to me. Prospective tenants deserve transparency, professionalism, and responsive property management. Unfortunately, this was not my experience. To this day, i am still running around with circles now being charged for an oven drip tray that was never there to begin with
