Swindling tenant's money

I was renting a flat from Centurion Real Estate, the flat was given to me in an absolutely terrible condition (no keys for the outside doors, taps not working properly, ants in the bedroom etc.). After spending a month or two to get all these issues sorted and having stayed there for only 8-9 months, they now want to use my deposit to repaint the entire flat. I then asked them for proof of how the paint has deteriorated during my tenure at the flat and I get no response. Neither the moving in inspection nor the moving out inspection was shared with me to acknowledge their findings if any. Over my 9 year history of renting apartments I have never had to pay a single cent to repaint an apartment I have stayed in let alone R5000 that they want to spend! This is absolutely terrible service and the fact that they do not respond to your emails even more astonishing!
