Humiliation, embarsament and theft by Management and staff of Centurion Cofi

On the 10th of March 2024, I went to Centurion Cofi with my wife to chill and enjoy their African cuisine baffet. We set there for several hours as we usually do. Around 18h45, I requested for the bill.

The lady who was waisting us, brought the bill and we paid. Just as we stood up leaving, the bouncers and a certain waiter (a guy) came to us and said let's go and talk down stairs. As we were walking down stairs, they started telling me that I awe the restaurant, there was a day in 2023 where I did not pay my bill in full. The waiter made a mistake and brought a bill of R1600 instead of R2600.

I asked them how is that possible as I always pay my bills and I am a regular customer there. Why did they wait for today to come and confront me. They started saying I am not going to leave the restaurant without settling the bill for last year. I asked them whom's mistake was it for bringing the bill of R1600, they rep**** by saying it was the waiter's mistake. They blocked my way, this was around 19h00.

I pleaded with them to let me go and they said they will show me today. I told them to call the police if I have committed a crime and the gentlemen who said he was the manager took out his phone and said he is calling the police and they are on their way. I took out my phone to capture what was happening, as I was doing so, a certain waiter (a lady) grabbed my phone and started to move with it from the scene.

As I followed her, the bouncer and all the waiters who were there came to stop me, man handling me. I feared for my life and stopped trying to get my phone back. at this point they stopped blocking my way and I said to my wife, let's leave.

I went to the police station to report the matter. They advised that I must go with certain police officials back to Cofi so that they can make an arrest for theft and *******.

After arriving at Cofi, the police requested to see the manager whom they explained to that what they did was wrong and they must hand back the phone or they will make an arrest. At this point the manager tried to defend the situation saying I must pay and they asked him whose mistake was it and he said, it was that of the waiter.

After that they went and took the phone and handed it over.

1. I was embarrassed and humiliated at Cofi 2. I was harassed and Man handled 3. I am still traumatised by what happened 4. My time was wasted due to *********** staff behaviour

As a regular customer, I am disappointed on how Cofi employees can treat their regular customer like that, in-front of my wife. The unprofessionalism is on another level.
