Day light *******

I took a gap gap cover with Sanlam centriq insurance company limited. I have been paying R429 p/p for years. In March 2023, my wife experienced a miscarriage and was admitted to the hospital for two days. My insurance paid a portion and there was a shortfall of R1034.20. For the 1st time I submitted a claim to my gap cover insurance (centric insurance company limited), they refused to pay my claim. They said, miscarriage was not an emergency procedure. I must pay the shortfall on own.

It feels like a day light ******* that you pay for insurance premiums for years and when you need the insurance to return a favor, they look for any excuse not to honor their commitment. I have since taken the matter to ombudsman for short term insurance. In the meantime, I am contemplating to cancel this policy and look for another insurance company that takes customer needs serious.
