Centriq Insurance ********* practice on claim payments.

It is rather sad that after the passing of my living partner/common law husband on the 01/04/2022 I submitted my funeral claim and due to the cause of death being unnatural the consultant who assisted me with the claim advised me that I will need a police report completed which I manage to do and submit with my claim he also advised that the funeral cover will be paid out in 24hrs and the accidental due to unnatural cause will be paid on the 20th April. Sadly the funeral cover was not paid until I called to complain and noted that one takes out a funeral plan to make sure to receive or claims be paid out in 24 or 48hrs to arrange the funeral accordingly and not a life policy that has an investigation period prior to payout. This was 4 days later and then received my claim payment. However on the 20th as stated via sms for the accidental portion to be paid never happened instead I received a letter of repudiation stating that based on the BI1663 my claim had been repudiated. Unfortunately my partner was admitted with sever abdominal pain and had an emergency operation performed an subsequently passed on due to the operation. 1 the BI1663 confirmed this and thus the death certificate which is issued based on the BI1663 states unnatural and yet their policy definition states what unnatural death is based on their policy definition and accidental cause. 2. He did not operate on himself hense did not harm or injure himself which coincidentally caused his death and now refuses to pay the accidental claim. This is totally unacceptable and I do feel that after all I have been through with the police report confirming the matter is under investigation. Centriq Insurance should refer back to their own definition of accidental claim and pay out the amount due to me as the claimant as there is no where stated that accidental death by surgery procedure is not classified as an accidental death. Because clearly they do not understand their own definition or yet their Assess. Besides the letter of repudiation was dated the 20th February 2022 and my partner passed on the 01st April 2022 that's how little regard they have for their clients that they have a standard draft used to reject claims. They are very reluctant to payout claims and should not be signing up clients knowing that they do not have intentions of honoring claims on time. This is also not the 1st family claim not honored by Centriq Insurance or Capitec.
