***** ALERT: Central Estates (listed as Midrealty on EAAB website)

I rented a privately owned flat for over 3 years which was managed by Central Estates (listed as Midrealty on the EAAB database). When I moved out, the real estate agent (and company owner Lynette) did an inspection before we handed over the keys. Everything was fine at the time of the inspection and she stated that she would pay back my deposit in the coming days.

She then disappeared for 2 weeks (not answering calls, not responding to texts, etc.) without giving me my money. When I finally got a hold of her, she claimed that she had been on leave and that she needed to reconcile all of our payments (2***) to see whether we qualify to get our deposit back. She claims we owe money for rates when in fact, we had overpaid over a period of 3 years.

She also claimed that she had to pay people to clean the flat (please note that I had hired 2 ladies to clean the flat before we moved out and we had repainted the bathroom). She confirmed that the flat was as we found it when we moved in but she changed stories after we had handed over the keys.

She emailed us a spreadsheet where she recorded amounts received and owed. Some of the numbers in that spreadsheet were false and some of the totals were miscalculated. She also tried to include her bank charges and listed them as moneys owed.

Please refrain from doing business with these people. They will de***** you if you aren't careful.
