Stay away from Masai Lofts and Central Developments

If I could give Masai Lofts and Central Developments zero stars, I would. When I moved in, both the advertising and verbal assurances from Tshepang and Rebotile promised no levies or municipal charges, which influenced my decision to sign the lease. However, starting in July, they began imposing sudden municipal charges, completely contradicting what was initially agreed upon. These charges, along with excessive admin fees for every electricity purchase, led to absurd costs. I ended up spending close to R8000 between May and September 2024, including electricity, utilities, admin fees, and emergency top-ups.

Alex (the manager) admitted in written communication that their agents miscommunicated the terms and said they would take “internal disciplinary action,” yet I still bore the cost of their mistake. Despite multiple attempts to address this, I was met with rudeness and dismissive behavior from their team.

Future tenants, do your due diligence and speak to others who have lived here before committing. Central Developments and their agents have shown themselves to be *************. Don’t rely on the few positive reviews on Google because the agents make people leave a positive review based on the process of viewing and signing the lease, and not a review of actually living in the unit. The hidden costs will leave you financially drained and deeply frustrated. Best believe, now that I have moved out, I will be pursuing legal action based on their ************ and ******** practices.
