Locked out of my unit

I am a tenant at San Ridge heights. I was recently locked out of my unit and had to sleep in my car as I had no place to go, and this resulted in me unable to go to work the following day as I had to sort this out. I had an arrears of less than a months rent and I attempted to reason with my landlord but he locked my unit and proceeded to go home. I know my rights and this is *******, the only reason my rent was in arrears is because my girlfriend had a operation that we had to pay cash for. This is truly unacceptable and I am exercising my rights as a tenant through legal action.
