Deposit Unpaid
Route 82 marketing manager Gabriel, **** to us with regards to our deposit being paid back. We asked for an early release to our contract due to my in laws not being well. We spoke to Gabriel and he said we can vacate due to the fact that its a family matter and that the worst that we can get would be part of our deposit after they do an inspection of unit. They came did the inspection and we just owed R88 to central developments. Now that they need to give us the deposit money back he requested that we give them a letter showing that the parents are not well.
Gabriel did not give us full information as to what would be the penalties for vacating the premises early as now central development does not want to pay our deposit back due to the fact that they couldn't market and fill the unit, however there are over 50 units that don't have tenants, We just want our deposit back as we spoke to Gabriel and our decision was based on his on him saying that he will submit a recommendation so that we at least get part of our deposit as soon as the inspection has been done. May someone higher than Gabriel please contact us and give proper feedback as we need our money.

Gabriel mentioned that he will send a recommendation to management as he tried his best to accommodate you, however as management discussed with you - you are only penalized the rental amount for early termination and late notice which is in breach of contract. The landlord has the right to penalize you for up to two month's rent/deposit as per section 1.26 of your signed lease agreement, however, have decided not to charge additional costs. We deem this matter as finalized.

16 Jul 2020, 19:03The issue is that we made a decision to leave early based on what Gabriel said, otherwise we would have let the lease run and leave in January 2021. You cant just say this matter is finalized when we were misinformed and therefore lost R6550. Our decision to leave was based on the fact that Gabriel had said we would get some part of the deposit. So we can to lose oir deposit and Gabriel gets to keep his job whilst he told us lies. If thats how Route 82 does business then it is well.
