I rented a flat at Platinum Manor in Pretoria under Central Developments management. I negotiated an early exit which was approved by their officials at their office at the property. They signed and confirmed my early termination and indicated in their own writing that I am not legible for any penalties. After my departure I was informed by their central office that I had forfeited my deposit which is not what they commited to when I signed my exit forms.

I was also informed that I had to pay an amount of about R5000 for painting and replacement of a door cylinder. An amount of about R500 was charged for an ordinary toilet door cylinder. The quotations for the repairs were not discussed with me prior to implementation. I could have found a better door cylinder far cheaper than what they charged me.

The argument of Central Development is that I am in breach of contract for early termination, however, this is incorrect because the termination was negotiated and signed off by central development. I would not have left early had I not been promised that I would not forfeit my deposit. I do not know whether this company does not understand the laws of contracts. A contract can be changed at any time if both parties agree and sign it off.

It is not surprising that this company dominates the complaints regarding rentals on this and other sites.
