Central Developments and Lemon Tree Exploiting tenants

They don't even deserve the 1star rating!! Central Developments, Lemon Tree Apartments to be exact is filled with managers with zero management experience. Upon signing the lease, I was informed by Hanco at the time that the rent only increases after 12months, that we would have free storage and no mention what so ever about the fact that we had to buy electricity monthly nor the fact that they increase their deposit when they increase the rent. None of the things promised to us ever materialised after we signed the contract and to add to that frustration, Stephan or Stef****, is a very rude old man with zero tolerance towards tenants. they deduct your utilities even after you inform them that rent would be delayed by a week or so and would deduct extra money which they cannot quantify, then they state they would pay you the next month....mind you , you have electricity and water to buy so how do you wait for a month when you have none, as if that's not enough, they ignore your emails and calls and bombard your phone with numerous fiber texts and their promotions and dont even bother attending to your email queries. I set up an appointment with Stephan and he never bothered to wait for me so things kept adding up and up and I eventually terminated my contract out of frustration and handed them over to the Housing Tribunal because they were refusing to refund my deposit. Then recently, they offered to pay my deposit subject to me agreeing to accept their offer of a penalty fee for cancellation of contract, of R2500. I accepted the Offer thinking they would stick to their end of the bargain, but to my surprise,they paid me a deposit refund which was short by R925, mind you they charged me R350 for some marks on the bathroom ceiling which was due to the steam from their shower (and small bathroom window) and R300 just to paint a small area in the lounge from a painting I had put up. I had asked for a paint color via email to Stephan and he never bothered to even return my email and I called their office at Lemon Tree and was informed by Andre that he too didnt know which color grey paint they use in the apartments at Lemon Tree, so basically they both couldnt care anyless about finding out the right grey paint color for me when they knew I was in the store buying the paint. I am very fedup with them and have decided to escalate the matter to my lawyers should I not be refunded the outstanding deposit refund, Exploiting tenants just because you have bound them by a contract is not ethical and the consumer act and housing tribunal act covers such. I know I will win this case and I advise you to stay away from this agent if you dont want to experience this nightmare.
