Bullying Tactics by Central Developments
As a tenant and mother, I am deeply disturbed by the inhumane treatment I’ve received from Central Developments
I am self employed individual and i work from home. Standard terms is that you pay 1 months deposit however because i am self employed and my income fluctuates i had to pay a double deposit as a business owner fully understood this and fully comp****. On 7 May, I proactively informed them that my rent would be late and that I would settle it within seven days. Despite this communication, my electricity was disconnected—without any formal notice, without legal process, and while I still had credit on the system.
My 15-month-old child and I have now gone over 24 hours without power. I have had to change nappies and prepare cold meals in the dark while managing a sick child. With no phone i had to ask my neighbours twice to charge my phone so that i could communicate with them, My ability to work and attend virtual meetings has been compromised. My calls and queries have been ignored or passed around with vague excuses like ‘rebooting’ while the rest of the complex had power.
I have screenshots, emails, and confirmation from the utility provider that the disconnection was not a system issue—but done manually. I believe this is constructive eviction, emotional harassment, and a violation of the Rental Housing Act.
I have lodged a formal complaint with the Rental Housing Tribunal and am calling for urgent intervention. Tenants deserve to be treated with dignity—not bul****, ignored, and left in the cold. If this has happened to you, speak out. Enough is enough."**

I was contacted by Central Developments 13 May who now claim the electricity disconnection on 9 May was a mistake on GCT’s (Utility provider) part. However, I have written confirmation from GCT support that the journal affecting my electricity was initiated by Central Developments, specifically an employee named Lionel.
At the time, I was gaslighted, pressured into signing an Acknowledgment of Debt, and denied basic services — including electricity and WiFi — while caring for a sick toddler. Central Developments continued to insist my electricity had “depleted” naturally, despite evidence showing a manual override was processed.
They refuse to take accountability, repeatedly changing their narrative. I am still waiting for my electricity credits to be refunded, and no apology or formal explanation has been issued for their ******** actions.
I hope this case serves as a warning to others about the abuse of power by landlords and managing agents, and I encourage affected tenants to speak up.
