Refuse to pay out a claim

My name is Martie van der Merwe

On the 13th of November 2016 there was a spike in the electricity is Bloemfontein affecting Wilgehof. As a result of this a lot of consumers lost lots of their electric appliances.

After telephone conversations to cenlec they confirmed that the fault was from their side and the next day on the 14th of November 2016 it was in the Volkblad as well where they aknowledged that it was cenlec's fault due to nunforseen circumstances.

After several months on Friday the 12th of May 2017 they send me a rejection letter via e-mail confirming that they will not pay out the claim.

We lost our refrigerator, whashingmachine, amp and other items. As we lost this items we had to borough it from friens and family now we will have to replace the items ourselves and it was not even our mistake. How can cenlec get away with this?

As in Wilgehof there are a lot of needy individuals who cannot afford to replace this items.

Their insurance company: Lion of Africa Insurance

The claim number is LAUA/JHB/P ********** 44/19

Brokers ***

My adress is:

32 A Montgomery street

Wilgeho

Bloemfontein
