Clever concept - ZERO backup - highly unimpressed

So as a side line from vehicle tracking it would seem these fellows install control valves in geysers for Property Managers. Clever enough solution for a compulsory conscripted monthly fee passed on to unit owners that gives the owner "protection" and gives the app user access to an app to see geyser running costs and have limited control over geyser schedule and not a lot else. In the event of a burst geyser the probe will pick up water in the tray and immediately shut off the water mains. Essentially a simple enough concept that can save plenty of consequential damage in a high rise block. ........ however....

The issue is when something goes wrong they have ZERO backup plans in place. 4 days of no water, intermittent water, no hot water. All I got on Sunday when the water supply fully cut off due to a "Faulty Valve" was someone telling me to call back on Tuesday after the long weekend. The email address in the app returned a failed email / address unknown error. All I got on Tuesday was the CEO telling me on a WhatsApp message because he has no manners to return a call "I’m sorry you have issues. Please understand we bill you and the others nothing for all the support, which is part of the problem. It cannot get priority when financially it’s just a cost."

Matey - we pay our electricity, water, fibre, rates and body corporate accounts on time month in and month out..... your system cuts our water supply and and your staff do absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. On Day 4 of this saga I have to throw every toy I own right out my cot after going to the trouble at my expense to call the approved building plumber round bright and early to confirm that there is nothing wrong with the geyser and the fault is 100% with your value and the software that controls it.

Interesting to note that I am not the first person to have random issues and I am definitely not the first person to have appalling service issues. Trust me I will not be held to ransom going forward and then be subjected to a R25 000 insurance excess should I rip the valve out and somewhere down the line my geyser bursts and it does not have this compulsory paid for subscription device in place. Great idea - appallingly bad service - exceptionally bad taste that in your WhatsApp I am effectively being told that there appears to be an issue between you and the managing agent.

Hi Peter
I apologise for the poor experience you have had.  The Block that you stay in has huge challenges with regards to the plumbing and Geysers.
The system was designed to activate once water was sensed and shut the power and Water off if triggered.  The experience we have gained from your block specifically is that if water is sensed it requires inspection before temporarily overriding.  The system has made it possible for the block to get insurance which was cancelled due to the high claims experienced and only re-introduced with the instalment of the Geyser Guard in your apartment.
We are well aware of false alarms that occur and we do what we can to reduce them.
As we have discussed we have app**** all we have learned and are finalising the new version which will have more features and more importantly provide us more visibility to avoid the false alarms.
I trust your experience has been better recently and you have had your frustrations due to the system alleviated.  Unfortunately its not a silver Bullet for all plumbing failures in the apartment,  however we have had great success at reducing costs associated with geyser and surrounding plumbing failures..
We look forward to being of better service and trial you on the new system once launched.
Regards
Philip

Best regards,

Reviewer Update
Hi Philip - I see you have been catching up on a review I wrote well over a year back. Since then I have had nothing but absolutely BRILLIANT service from you guys and I am sorry as I should have gone back on here and given you another review. Let me do it here now....

Easter this year (2023) the water pipe under the sink burst and completely flooded the apartment. Due to having built up a good relationship with Philip ***ner and MD) after the last disaster I sent him a WhatsApp message at 23H00 just before Good Friday. I got an immediate response. I relayed the issue and let him know I was in Harare and my wife was in Oxford and neither of us could send cross border text's to get the GeyserGuard unit that controls the water supply to the geyser to turn off. Philip did this for me. HE also ensured that he was awake at 04H30 on Good Friday morning to turn the water off again after loadshedding ended. Yip his device in the geyser tray would have gotten power back and then looked in the geyser tray and said OK all clear here and no leak in the geyser so let me do my job and turn the water back on! That is what the GeyserGuard system is designed for - we just used some lateral thinking to get it to shut off the water supply to prevent further damage from the burst pipe downstairs in the kitchen.

So cutting a long story short there was some serious water damage in our apartment and apartments below us on the 4th and 3rd floor I was very happy with the fact that my GeyserGuard helped out and that the MD and Owner of the business worked with me to limit the damage. Thanks you Philip - you now definitely get a 6 star review.
