STAY AWAY FROM CDJ
Words cannot describe our absolute horrible experience with CDJ.
It all started well with our packing as arranged, but as soon as the truck left it was a completely different story.
After all our belongings left on the moving truck the Friday, we received an invoice that evening for extra items (plants etc - that were actually included with the original house check, when the inventory was done). These items were simply left behind at their Joburg depot (and are still there) The plants are now al seemingly dead.
My last communication with Shane was the Monday morning, assuring me "everything should be fine" and he will look in to the extra invoice. That was the last time I heard from him.
Our truck was supposed to arrive Monday between 12:00 and 13:00, but only arrived the Thursday evening.
We paid for same day unpacking which never happened - they sent one guy the day after the truck arrived and then the same guy a few days later.
I have not heard back from Shane himself to this day.
We have missing items and no accountability whatsoever from CDJ for anything mentioned above.
We are so sorry to see this review as we have tried tirelessly from our side to resolve this. We would like to take a moment to again address the concerns and provide further clarification regarding the transport services for his recent move.
Upon reviewing the details, we found that, as per the initial survey report, only seven of the outdoor pot plants were included in the original quote for transport.
Additionally, the volume of garage items exceeded the quantities listed in the confirmed survey we provided earlier, which led to an increase in the space required for transport.
After the survey was conducted we provided a copy of the survey list of goods to be moved, if there are any changes to this the must be informed prior. While we were more than happy to accommodate the extra volume, and we did so with most of the additionals, it's important to note that, as previously mentioned, the pot plants cannot be stacked on top of each other inside the truck due to their size and fragile nature. This specific requirement for additional space, in turn, contributes to the increased cost for transport.
We understand that any unexpected costs or changes to the initial estimate can be concerning. It’s worth noting that, like other removal companies in the industry, and as outlined in clause 2 of our contract terms and conditions, our pricing is an estimate, not a firm quotation. As such, the final cost may vary depending on the actual volume of goods to be transported. This is a standard practice in the industry, given the unpredictability of the final load and the need to accommodate unforeseen changes in the number of items to be moved.
Given every possible precaution was taken it is unfortunate that we weren't advised of extra items prior to loading. Please accept our sincerest apologies if the you feel that the level of service provided did not meet your expectations. Our team strives to offer the highest standard of service, and we truly regret any inconvenience caused. We continuously work to improve our processes and ensure clear communication with our clients at all stages of the move.
