Damage to gearbox due negligenceand poor workmanship

<p>CBS Bodyworks was appointed by insurance Legacy Hollard to do repairs on my car after it was damaged in an accident. They replaced the bumper, radiator and air conditioner condensor and did spray painting to match the colour. The radiator was an aftermarket replacement which started leaking gearbox oil from the gearbox oil cooler in the radiator. The leaking radiator was replaced with a second aftermarket radiator which was leaking gearbox oil from the gearbox oil cooler on the workshop floor. A third aftermarket radiator was fitted and then the car was taken to a VW workshop to have the gearbox oil refilled. After a while the third radiator started leaking gearbox oil from the gearbox oil cooler on the radiator and CBS Bodyworks replaced the radiator with a genuine parts radiator but neglected to have the gearbox oil refilled. After a while the car started jerking and shuddering while driving. Took the car to Audi Centre in George where they refilled the gearbox and said there is damage in the gearbox due to low oil level in the gearbox and overheating of the gearbox oil and excessive wear of the gearbox components. When confronted, the panel beater admitted that he thought it was not needed to refill the gearbox oil after refitting the genuine parts radiator. However now I am stuck with a car that has a damaged gearbox which is stripped in pieces and I cannot drive it for the past year now. The damage is in excess of R100000.00 to replace the gearbox with a new one. If the panl beater is prepared to cover all my expenses up to date and cover the cost of repairing the gearbox I will be very pleased with the service. I do feel he must be brought o book for the damage caused. As I have been following the sevice schedule laid down by Audi in servicing the car and the accident took place just after the gearbox oil was replaced by Audi Centre in George.</p> <p>CBS Bodyworks is not authorised to do repairs by Audi South Africa. </p> <p>Regards</p> <p>Mike Erasmus</p>
