Incompitent service, disgruntled management and untrained staff

My mother invited my sister and myslf to go and have dinner tonight (10 Feb ) at the Cattle Baron. Although it looked busy, we were there early (7pm) and started with a round of drinks catching up with what has happened since I last saw them.
At 7:30pm we placed our orders and had a second round of drinks. This was the last time we saw our waitress, I didn't really notice as I had not seen my sister in some time, so we were engrossed in conversation. Her daughter however didn't have anyone to talk to so started becoming unsettled.
At this time I noticed it was 8:30 already and that my parents were also becoming restless.
At 9pm I called another waitress and said that I haven't seen our waitress and it is getting a bit late. This waitress still seem to have some wits about her, but her excuse for dinner not arriving "their Cordon Bleu is now prapared fresh, so takes a little time". I truly can't see how stuffing a piece of chicken takes an hour and a half??
I was still ok and willing to wait, but my parents are pentioners and were becoming tired. I noticed the manager ( Collin Parish ) walking downing the passage and pointed him out to my mother saying, maybe she should notify him of the situation.
She tapped him on the shoulder, but at this time he had stopped at a table, when he turned around, she tried to explain, but he cut her short with a : "I'm busy with this table, I'll be with you now"
Such a short and disdainful response for the polite way my mother aproached him set me off and I said it was definitlely time to leave. At the counter I told the girl in front of the till that I would like to pay for that table, pointing at the table in front (None of them had numbers that I could see)
The girl then proceeds to lambaste me with the words : "What table, how must I know what table you were at?". Such comments are uncalled for and unprofessional and aren't synonymous with a family restaurant.
The whole unplesant situation could have been avoided if the "manager" were in any sense the word that described his position, but I feel that his attitude obviously conveyed the level of incompetence that was ramant in this this previously homely restaurant.

Manners is part of a culture of a company and if the owners and managers don't have it neither will the staff. I can see from all the other posts on HelloPeter that this must be a charactaristic that spills from the top. Maybe you have noticed that your restuarants aren't as popular as before, look within.
