Blue steaks

<p>A friend and I had been out doing a 4x4 Land Rover course near Stellenbosch. After the course had finished, at about 12 noon, we decided to head back to Cape Town and grab a bite to eat. We felt like eating a "good steak", so decided to go to Cattle Baron at Constantia Village. The restaurant was quite busy so they seated us on the top floo, in the far corner. The waiter came along and introduced himself and instead of eating their Sunday Buffet, we decided to order Sirloin steaks, on the bone, medium rare, with chips. We were told we would also have vegetables and we ordered a seperate plate of fried onion rings. Our meal arrived and had a small "flag" on a toothpick with the letters "MR" which I assumed meant medium rare. We started on our steaks and about half way through, near the bone, we both discovered that our steaks were very blue! Neither our vegetables nor the onion rings had also arrived, so my mate walked downstairs to find out what was going on? After a few minutes our vegetables and onion rings arrived. We complained to the waiter that the meat was undercooked and that the vegetables were late and asked him what he would do to rectify the experience? He came back and said he would offer us free coffees or dom pedros! We told him that we don't want free coffees and that we at least expected some form of discount because of the poorly cooked food and that they forgot the vegetables and onion rings. We asked him to call the manager. The manager arrived and we explained our story and he said that he couldn't offer us a discount. My mate explained that as a show of faith and in order to make us feel that our complaints were being taken seriously, that they should rather consider a discount on the meal. Again he said that he couldn't offer us a discount but he would find out what he could do and come back to us. After waiting for another few minutes, no one came back, so we walked down stairs to the main front desk, asked for the bill and paid. Still no one came up to us to apologise or to offer any discount off the bill.</p> <p>we will vote with our feet and tell as many of our friends NOT to frequent the Cattle Barron!</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
