Shocking Spa Experience at The Commodore – Voucher Redeemed from Cape Royale Luxury Hotel & Spa

Good morning,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing to share my recent – and extremely disappointing – experience after redeeming a voucher I purchased for the “2-Hour Luxury Spa Experience” at the 5-Star Cape Royale Luxury Hotel & Spa, Green Point.

I had purchased two vouchers for this package, intended as a relaxing treat for myself and my husband. However, when we arrived, the experience took place at The Commodore Hotel in the V&A Waterfront, which was unexpected but we proceeded in good faith.

From the beginning, the treatment was bizarre and uncomfortable. My session started with what felt like an hour-long back scrub, using what seemed to be an exfoliator app**** in endless circular motions. It went on for so long that my back actually started burning. Following that, I received the longest foot exfoliation of my life – an experience that honestly felt more like torture than pampering.

After that ordeal, the masseur spent approximately 20 minutes wiping off product from the towel I was lying on. I found this confusing at the time, but it made sense later on. What followed was a short circular back rub (was this supposed to be the "full back of body massage" mentioned in the voucher?), a very underwhelming facial, and a head rub.

To make matters worse, my husband’s the****** coughed constantly in his face throughout the treatment, which was both uncomfortable and unhygienic.

At this point, we were ready to leave – but things got worse. On my way back from the restroom, I passed by the treatment room we had just left, only to see the the****** straightening the same towels we had just used for the next clients. I was absolutely disgusted. This also explained the lengthy effort spent earlier trying to wipe off all the exfoliation product from the towels – they had no intention of replacing them!

This was hands-down the worst spa experience we have ever had. We were left not only disappointed, but also concerned about hygiene practices and overall professionalism. This experience certainly did not reflect the "5-star luxury" standards promised in the voucher.
