DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!!!

My Husband and I recently travelled to the UK & Ireland and decided to use ABSA's cash passport as a means of taking our forex . The card was app**** for and the forex paid over a week before we travelled but the card was not activated until 2hrs before we had to travel and not until we had made 3 or phone calls to the ABSA's forex department to try and get it sorted out. Stress that we could well have done without on the day we were travelling. Whilst abroad the card did work however it was impossible to get a reliable balance on the card. One minute it would say we had $9 left (even though the card was loaded in euro!!) then it would say we had 147 pounds and 1 minute later after not having used the card it would say 133 euro!! On our arrival back in SA when we log on the website it now says there is 0 left on the card but I have calculated what we spent of the forex we loaded and it is impossible for the balance to be zero! ABSA is very little help (telling us to fill in a refund form and hope for the best!) and the cashpassport helpline just puts you through to self help options and you are unable to speak to a consultant. In future I will just take cash!!!
