I'm very disappointed by the cash converters in midrand mall, halfway house estate. The manager and his security guard kicked me out of their store because I didn't agree to leave my bag pack at the parcel counter that had a laptop worth R60 000. The inconvenience risk is not worth the risk of leaving it under someone else's care. I was at the cash converters in woodmead they let me shop around with no inconveniences they even informed me additional promos. I'm not complaining about the floor staff they were polite and didn't bother me but some guy in a purple shirt I think he's the manager cause first the security at the door understood and I offered that they can search my bag on my way out if they want to I don't mind but this guy on a purple shirt just wanted to enforce his authority over me. I loved going to this store a few months ago I bought a Phillips 22IV Display Monitor and I usually just check from time to time if there's something I might like, but how I was treated today made feel like they don't see me as a customer but rather a suspect, why? I really don't know. If that guy is the manager he probably got promoted because of long service not due to competence.

04 Dec 2022, 02:33I don't know if your response was just to maintain good PR or it was genuine, all I know is that its been 6 days and I haven't gotten any communication from any management.
But its fine I guess after all its this attitude that really show if a company cares for its customers. I would have really appreciated it better if you just responded and told me that if I have my bag I won't be allowed in than telling me the store's management will be in touch with me which they never did.

We've unfortunately recently had an armed ******* and these procedures are
in place to minimise risk as well as loss and ensure the ongoing safety of
our other customers and staff.
I understand your issue, because leaving a laptop ( of any value ) just
isn't safe in your car anymore, so you keep it close to you. I agree too
that the desk / holding area isn't necessarily secure enough for personal
items, so what choices do we have.
The problem is that we have had to implement blanket rules, in order to not
distinguish between would - be *******, ******s, mall customers etc, so its
sad for me that we lost a customer (you!) on the day purely due to a safety
issue.
We're definitely grappling with crime, and your support and understanding
would be most appreciated,

You don't need a bag for an armed, maybe you'd keep the gun in the bag but you can also keep the gun on you but that doesn't mean people shouldn't get in because they may potentially be carrying guns.
I wasn't carrying a sports bag, I had a 10 litre backpack and I communicated my reason for not wanting to keep it at the holding area, why would I go in a store with a laptop to commit *******? If I was gonna rob the store I wasn't going to come with a laptop.
