From Pretoria west to Germiston for nothing

Yesterday I found an item on Facebook marketplace from cash converters springs that was advertised by a guy named Stanley Ngobeni.

He responded to my enquiry with his contact number, I called him and he told me the item is available and I’m welcome to collect this morning (5/3/25). I called him again this morning around 7:30 to confirm availability as I live 100km from the said store. I’m from Pretoria and the store is in springs. He said it’s available but due to him being off today his colleague Sello would assist me and he has already asked him to put the item aside.

Knowing that the item has been secured I then started my journey , I drove 70km to Germiston and decided to give him a courtesy call to let him know I’m about 20 minutes away. I was then shockingly told that the item had been sold yesterday already.

Now when would I have been notified? If I didn’t call him I would have continued the further 30km and got to the mall only to be dismally disappointed!

I find it extremely frustrating that I now spent 2 hours in traffic and money on fuel only to turn back for nothing.

What was the point of me getting in touch with a sales person only to be given false information? Bear in mind this is not the first time this has happened at cash converters it’s just that now I felt I had to voice my opinion.

The sales staff are clueless and bad communicators that have absolutely no care for what it costs a customer to travel to the store.

From Pretoria west to Germiston back to Pretoria west for absolutely no reason.

Worst part is that the advert is still published online even though he knows it has been sold, I wonder how many other guys will drive to springs today for absolutely nothing.
