Yes, but somebody else paid in full already.....

<p>To all,</p> <p> </p> <p>My fiance and i went hunting for venues for the wedding of our dreams as any couple surely does. We came across a venue that had everything we wanted and still had the date we wanted available.</p> <p> </p> <p>After a meeting one evening, looking at the venue and dscussing everything we requested a quote plus the terms and conditions to pay the deposit as arrangements have not been finalised 10 months ahead of time. The deposit would be only to confirm the date. We recieved the quote and a happy email about welcoming us to the family of joining this amazing venue, 5 days later.</p> <p> </p> <p>As per the discussion we had the night of the viewing, we were fully under the impression that the date is ours and only confirmed once the deposit was paid. When we received the quote, we did our final calculations and paid the deposi within the first week. On day 7 when we requested if the deposit amount was showing on their books, we received an email of apology about how another couple came and looked at the venue between when the quote was sent and our request for the deposit showing. When my fiance called to find out what was happening, she was told that the other couple paid n full already and because our deposit hadn't shown on the system yet they confirmed their date and the venue for them.</p> <p> </p> <p>I really do wish the other couple all the best going forward, honestly I do. This does not lie with them.</p> <p> </p> <p>We are not impressed in the least with the way that we were not treated with a bit of curtesy. If there are other couples interested, a simple phone call to find out if the deposit has been paid would surely not have made a difference. Sending out emails and welcoming couples to the family and then at the first opportunity disgarding them when there is somebody else willing to pay more upfront, surely that does not qualify as professional and I really do not want to be in that family.</p> <p> </p> <p>At the end, we would still have paid the full amount of the venue and all extras. We even paid the deposito for the accomodation next to the venue to book out the entire guesthouse for the people invited to our wedding, all that would have been settled before the actual wedding date.</p> <p> </p> <p>A final note to other couples.......Just remember, sometimes you can pick your family!!!</p>
