He wasn't interested in doing an assessment

I arrived at hi Q Boksburg was directed to the guy to evaluate my bakkie. First the car would not start as the battery is not 100% because the bakkie has been standing for 6 months. then the first thing he said he cannot evaluate the car as he has another appointment soon and the car doesn't start.

Then he opened the bonnet, said that there was "an oil leak". This is not a leak. it was oil split from when the service was done! he left wen to go look for jumper cables , came back and said they did not have. then he offered to jump start the vehicle - which he then did - as it was started he said " there is no power steering" and the car has power steering and is working fine

he drove it around the parking , then climbed out said that the "clutch makes a noise"

he then asked if i had a mechanic to fix the problems. he said that i must take it to the mechanic and fix it then bring it back as he doesn't want to take off the value for items that need to be fixed, but he is interested in buying the car, but when its fixed. I feel he wasn't interested in doing an assessment.

Dear Marc,

Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry to hear that you did not feel that our inspector was interested in buying your car. It is a cornerstone that no matter who the customer is or what car they are selling, the CarZar team must make every effort to assist.

For us to be able to get our customers the highest price possible, it is critical that we can do an accurate assessment of the vehicle.

While it is a requirement that the car is in running condition, I understand that we were able to assist to get the car started so that this was not a barrier. Regarding the oil leak, it can be difficult to determine the difference between spilled oil and leaking oil, and it is not always possible for us to clean the engine first and then run the car further to test whether or not there is a leak.

While we should be able to price a car that does have a problem with the clutch, in some cases it is not possible to assess the extent of the issue - in such cases, a buyer would need to allow for the worst case scenario. As a result, in those circumstances we recommend to the customer that they can get a better price if they have the issue fixed (or at least diagnosed accurately) before selling to enable the buyer to pay the maximum possible price.

We are sorry that this was not effectively explained to you at the inspection. We thank you for your feedback and wish you safe and trouble free motoring.

Best regards,

The CarZar Team
