Worst ever experience! Gatvol!

My insurance required that i install a Tracker for my vehicle. I approached several "tracker" companies. Among others "Cartrack.co.za". They have an application form which you can download from their website. I completed the form and returned it via email and to the fax number as instructed. After about 2 weeks with no response, I decided to call the call center. After being revered from one person to the other i gave up after several attempts at phoning. The worst is if they transfer you to a different person who is busy on the telephone, you receive a voice message that the person is unavailable and you should call back later and then you get cut off.

I had enough. I told my broker that i want a different insurance who does not require a tracker for my vehicle. She suggested that she had a contact at "Cartrack". Amazingly i had a response in the same morning. They requested that i complete an application, to which i reply that i have already send one in. Their response was that documents do get lost and can i please do it again. So i did and then i had a booking to install a tracker within 2 workings days. But then.....

The day after installation i got a phone call from the call center, the stripping alarm went off on my tracker. My wife was driving with the vehicle and i told them this, they offered to phone her because they had her number. After about 10minutes i get a call back from the call center. They can not get hold of my wife and can i see if i can get hold of her and get back to them. Now what do you say to this: they can not get hold of the person who is driving the vehicle of which the ******** alarm went off and then request you to see if you can get hold of the person....

Luckely it was a false alarm, but obviously there was a problem because the device is sending a false alarm. I decided to phone the branch who installed it. Again several transfers later i spoke to a person. His first question after i told him about the false alarm was "did you drive over a speed bump?" This is a 4x4 vehickle which is going to go off road and that can set the ******** alarm off....

So i got told that someone will contact me to make an appointment with a senior technician to evalaute the unit and the installation. 9 days later i got a phone call to make the appointment for a further 8 days before they can inspect it....

The day after this phone call, i wanted to use my vehicle. It has been standing from Sunday to Friday. However, the battery was flat! Now this is a dual battery system, recently checked because of a planned trip. No other reason why the battery can go flat except for the newly installed tracker. Unable to start it, i started to phone the call center where i was being cut off several times. Then I phoned the branch and after several transfers i was told that they will send a technician to assist me. This was just after 1pm. I needed to get back to work at 2pm. Eventually i managed to get a charger and started to charge the battery. After repeated calls, they eventually arrived after 4pm. By now i am able to start the vehicle.

The response was that according to their system, the battery never went flat.... Yes i am standing there waisting my Friday afternoon and after charging the battery i managed to start the vehicle but there is nothing wrong with the battery.... They admitted that if the vehicle is not used on a daily basis, the battery might go flat. I was never informed about this.

Now this was enough. I requested the unit to be removed immediately. They refused because i had to sign a form cancelling my contract and it has to be captured by headoffice. I requested the form to be emailed immediately.

Funny enough. Even they struggled to get hold of their own people to instruct them to send me a cancellation form. During this period the technician and manager them selfs were discussing that the control room does not know what they see on the alarms. And that it is always a struggle to get hold of anybody at the branch to talk to.

I agreed that i will complete the cansellation form and return it immediately. They promised that they will come on Monday at 12pm to remove the unit, if the form was captured.

Guess what! Email received with no cansellation form attached after 5pm. Documents getting lost again....

This meant that i could only return the form on Monday and then obviously they did not come to remove the unit at 12pm as promised. So by Wednesday i decided to contact the branch again to ask when they plan to remove the tracker. I made an appointment for the Tuesday, but i have to pay R1700 cancellation fee before then and if they come out to me to remove the unit there will be a call out fee....

Tuesday. Great! The tracker is out. Got home and when i opened my back door i discovered parts of my dashboard on the back floor. So a large pannel below my steering wheel was not replaced. What else did they not do!

I phoned them and gave them a piece of my mind. Their response: they will make an appointment with a senior technician to come and evaluate if all is in order. I am still waiting for the call....
