Very bad experience with Cartrack SA

I am lodging this review to record an ongoing dispute with Cartrack South Africa (Pty) Ltd regarding their failure to deliver a service as contracted and their continued refusal to cancel my agreement despite non-performance.

I entered into an agreement with Cartrack for the installation and monitoring of a tracking system that was explicitly sold to me as a fully operational, reliable safety feature. From inception, however, the system did not function as described, and despite repeated attempts to obtain assistance, Cartrack has failed to restore or replace the defective system.

Over a period of several months, I engaged with multiple representatives and a manager (Ricky), yet the company remained unable or unwilling to resolve the technical fault. Their own staff have demonstrated a lack of product knowledge and accountability, leaving me with a system that cannot perform its intended function.

In terms of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), a supplier is obligated to provide goods and services that are of acceptable quality, in good working order, and fit for the purpose for which they are sold. Cartrack’s failure to do so constitutes a material breach of contract and an infringement of my rights under the CPA.

After providing the company with ample opportunity to remedy the defect, I exercised my right to withhold further payment for a service not rendered. Instead of addressing the fault, Cartrack’s accounts department began issuing payment threats and refused to process a legitimate cancellation request, effectively attempting to enforce an invalid contract.

I have issued a formal demand and escalated the matter to the relevant consumer protection and industry oversight bodies. It is deeply concerning that a company operating in the vehicle safety sector displays such disregard for legal compliance, product reliability, and customer recourse.

Consumers should be aware that Cartrack may not uphold its contractual and statutory obligations, and I would urge prospective customers to consider this before entering into any agreement.

Unfortunately I do not agree with your standardised feedback that you provided on my review.
Once my complaint is resolved I will gladly repirt it here, before that, do not fool the public by repkying to my review as if you are doing anything about it.
“What your company is actually doing is breaching the legal terms and conditions of the contract by failing to deliver the service as agreed. Instead of addressing the matter, you post a generic public response to create the false impression that the issue is being resolved. I am not misled by this, and I demand that the complaint be dealt with properly. Furthermore, your continued daily phone calls demanding payment for a service that was never rendered amount to harassment and are completely unacceptable.”

This serves as a formal update to my previous complaint and review against Cartrack. Despite written notice, Cartrack has continued to harass me telephonically and electronically. These repeated and unsolicited calls constitute ongoing harassment and disregard of my prior instruction to cease contact.

Furthermore, the company’s continued publication of standardized or “templated” responses on HelloPeter — while taking no substantive steps to resolve the underlying contractual breach — demonstrates deliberate misrepresentation to the public. Such conduct reflects a disregard for both consumer protection principles and basic contractual obligations.

This statement is placed on record as part of the ongoing documentation of Cartrack’s non-compliance and continued breach of legal and consumer conduct standards.
