Unauthorized Debit & Breach of Mandate – Refusal of Cash Refund

Cartrack debited my account on the wrong date, which resulted in a resubmission fee. On top of that, my monthly subscription was over-billed at R198 instead of the agreed R139. Cartrack has admitted in writing that the debit date was incorrect and that billing errors occurred. I have: Email confirmation from Cartrack Bank statements showing the incorrect debit and overcharge Despite this, Cartrack is now attempting to limit the refund only to the resubmission fee, while ignoring the R59 subscription overcharge, and claims that because the total amount involved is “under R300”, they will not refund the money in cash and will only offer a credit. This is unacceptable. There is no provision in the Consumer Protection Act that allows a company to: 1. Overcharge a customer Admit fault 2. Then decide to keep part of the ********ly debited funds because the amount is “small”

I am formally reporting this matter to: The National Consumer Commission (NCC) The Consumer Goods & Services Ombud (CGSO)

This post is to place on record Cartrack’s practice of acknowledging billing errors while refusing full refunds unless it suits them. I demand: 1. A full cash refund of R118 (R198 charged instead of R139 + resubmission fee caused by their error) 2. Written confirmation that this so-called “R300 rule” does not exist Assurance that no further incorrect debits will occur
