System useless on a motorcycle.

I had a bike track and recovery system fitted to my motorcycle yesterday as my insurance company requested it.

This morning I just phoned them to find out if the tracking system will also work if my bike ignition is off. They did explain that I could track it with the online app when the ignition was on.

The problem is they can not track the bike from their side either if the ignition is not on, which makes the system completely useless for a motorcycle as they hardly ever steel motorcycles in South Africa in that fashion. A bike is loaded onto a bakkie or into a truck and then driven away, which says that they will not be able to track and recover my vehicle.

After being put through to 4 different departments, and one agent of cartrack saying that it has a battery in the system and can be tracked by them without the ignition being on and another agent saying that they will not be able to track the motorcycle without the ignition being on. Their own personnel don't even seem to know the system.

I told them in that case I want to cancel the contract,to which they informed me that there will be a cancelation fee.

I will not pay a cancelation fee for a system that meens nothing to me and will not be able to recover my property.

They wanted to put me through to a manager, but I said he can contact me6, as I have been on my cellphone for 20 minutes already. Still waiting.

I think I should contact the ombudsman with this regard. Also Miway insurance, they of all people should know that most bikes are ****** by being loaded onto a truck, but they still contract with Cartrack.

Never ever deal with cartrack.

To update the situation, I went to one of the uninstallers, they took the unit, very diligently and profesionaly, I must say. When they wanted to get the vin numbers I had the previous report on the installation so they have the vin number and so on. With this they realised a second own power unit was aslo inserted, thee fleet unit that could monitor the bike whyel the ignition is of and obviously tracking. Now it sounds that some of the agents do not know the broduct at all. Running on your own back system that is almost inmosible to find. Concept very good, training must improve by bounds and leaps. I was very down in the dumps here about learning of this. Look, it is a conplex set up and give the customer the correct information. Don't think the company is horrible, but needs some work. After all, they go out there to risk theire life's for our property. I would love to see you ship up and begin a powerhouse second to none. Be safe out there, guys and girls.
