Stay Away from CarTrack Units and Insurance Companies giving you no choice of vehicle trackers.

A CarTrack Unit was installed in the Free State in a vehicle acquired for my Mother. The vehicle did not want to start. A rather costly exercise and many hours at a Dealership, my Mother suggested that the CarTrack Unit be removed as she was certain this had to be the cause. The battery (which was actually new) was replaced, etc. No-one believed her, until it was later removed and ....the vehicle started after thsi vehicle stood for a month. At first I was told this was rather unusual but 3 other clients had the same problem. Afterwards she was called confirming it was a faulty unit and wanted to re-install. I wanted the contract to be cancelled with immediate effect and they have the audacity of demanding a cancellation fee after all my costs. The debit order is still being lodged and after many complaints........ nothing. Did you know some short term insurers force clients to only deal with CarTrack as per their Recovery Warranty. This is 'Conflict of Interest' and did you know Altech Netstar offers this as well and I am not sure about others, ask first. Why would an insurer then give you no other option.......after speaking to management and also mentioned I will refer this to the Ombud, miraculously I was offered the alternative but not easily. Don't accept everything.... you have a right. Ask CarTrack if you are acquiring a GM if they can present a GM DSO Approval Certificate which all the others are able to. No-one could assist up to today at CarTrack and even the Insurer who forces one to only deal with CarTrack could get hold of the certificate. I will not give anyone reason to decline a claim whether it be at the Insurance Company or at the Dealership for warranty purposes, would you..... Always get everything in writing. CarTrack kindly cancel my contract and debit order. Treating Customers Fairly is what I expect.
