Misclassified as a Business on Day 1 — Dashcam Not Working for 48 Hours After Installation

I signed up with Cartrack on 03 May 2026, with installation completed on 04 May 2026. I am a private individual, who is not registered as a business, company, or sole trader with CIPC or any other regulatory body in South Africa.

During my signup, I mentioned that I aspire to one day start an e-hailing business. This was a personal aspiration, not a statement of current business operation. I currently drive one vehicle, for myself, as a private individual. A fleet requires more than one vehicle. I have one vehicle. I am one person.

Despite this, my account has been classified as a business entity - which is factually incorrect and directly contradicts the information I provided during signup.

This misclassification is significant because it strips me of the legal protections I am entitled to as a natural person under the Consumer Protection Act No. 68 of 2008.

To compound matters, immediately following installation on 04 May 2026, my dashcam was not working at all. This is a core component of the package I am paying for. Rather than this being proactively picked up and resolved by Cartrack, I was required to follow up repeatedly before the issue was eventually resolved on 06 May 2026, after 13:00 — more than 48 hours after installation. A brand new client should not have to chase a company repeatedly to receive a service that was paid for and installed the day prior.

I have already submitted a formal written request to clientservices and ceoescalations on 07 May 2026, requesting immediate correction of my account classification and an updated agreement reflecting my correct status as a natural person.

I am bringing this to Hellopeter because this matter is time-sensitive and requires prompt attention from Cartrack's management. I am not seeking confrontation — I am a new client who simply wants my account to accurately reflect who I actually am, and to receive the standard of service that was promised.

Date of Signup: 03 May 2026 Date of Installation: 04 May 2026 Dashcam Issue Resolved: 06 May 2026, after 13:00 Date of Written Request: 07 May 2026.

Thank you for your reply, however I must be transparent with the public reading this...this is a generic response that does not address anything specific about my situation.

To recap the pattern of service I have experienced as a brand new Cartrack client:

1. Installation was completed on 04 May 2026. My dashcam was not working from day one.
2. I reported this and was required to follow up repeatedly with no resolution.
3. I submitted a formal written email to ceoescalations on 06 May 2026, outlining my concerns. To date, I have received no response to that email.
4. Unable to get a resolution through the escalations team, I had to call Cartrack repeatedly until I found an individual outside of escalations who took ownership, escalated the matter himself, and only then was my dashcam resolved on 06 May 2026 after 13:00, more than 48 hours after installation.
5. I now have a separate, unresolved account classification matter that is time-sensitive and legally significant, which was also raised in my written email that remains unanswered.

In every single instance, I have had to chase Cartrack. Not once has Cartrack proactively followed up with me.

Your reply states that you "will investigate" and are "confident the matter will be clarified", but no timeline has been committed to, no one has taken personal ownership.
I am therefore formally and publicly requesting the following:

1. A specific, committed turnaround time for the resolution of my account classification matter.
2. A direct response to my written email submitted on 06 May 2026.
3. A named point of contact who will own this matter through to resolution.

I should not have to chase a company I signed up with less than a week ago for basic administrative accuracy and service delivery. I am giving Cartrack the opportunity to resolve this correctly and promptly.
