Installation damages and lack of response
My wife and I tried for a week to get our unit installed through Cartrack, after purchasing a new car through Subaru SA. I travel for work and this, therefore, fell to my wife to try and co-ordinate with Cartrack. On consecutive days the process took between 2-3 hours and required her stepping out of surgery that she was conducting to try and facilitate the process. During this process my wife was also required to call Cartrack herself to plead for assistance for the technician who was very much left in the lurch by head office as she was trying to complete the installation. I am aware of technicians having to unfairly take the flak for a fault that is structural and involves the operating procedure of the company as a whole (e.g. what support was she provided with, and the responsiveness of the company to resolving issues when they come up). The result of the above was a car that was damaged (auto-electrically) and no longer locked - the open door light no longer switched off - and the interior lights no longer worked. From the above and prior to this debacle I expected my installation payment to Cartrack to result in: - An installed and properly functioning unit; - Completion of the process within a reasonable time period (i.e. 1 day); - Protection of my asset (my car) as this is linked to our insurance policy. What we instead got was: A damaged car that we have just purchased and which has been put at risk due to the car no longer locking, lights no longer working, other issues with the fuse box (damages); A car that is further at risk due to the lack of completion of installation resulting in our car not being covered (increased risk); A waste of my wife's (spread over two days) and my time during a period where taking the time off to get this resolved as a result of issues with Cartrack was and is extremely costly to both of us (costs); and Multiple interventions from our side (my wife calling in an unsuccessful effort to support Cartrack's technician in the absence of their own provision of support to them, and my having to spend a number of hours writing emails and fielding phone calls engaging with Cartrack to try and fix what they have done) to resolve this matter in the absence of any proactive response from Cartrack to resolve an issue that they have created (lack of remedy).
I complained to Cartrack and they subsequently sent a senior technician to fix the problem. He was busy for more than 4 hours and when I checked on him I was concerned at how my car's wiring was everywhere and the level to which this was obviously a hugely "invasive" procedure that was tampering with my car's auto-electrical components. I wanted Cartrack to pay for the car to be independently checked by my dealer. I also requested a response in writing. I heard nothing back from them for a week and then when I followed up they responded by refusing my request and stating that they would pay for damages picked up but only if their technicians were able to be present with the dealer/service professionals, and that this would be for my account. I was still liable for installation costs and they offered me 1 month of my subscription fee off (R139!) for the inconvenience.
I find this experience hugely infuriating, particularly their response or lack thereof to their mistakes.
Terrible customer service and I am highly concerned about issues with my car emerging down the line due to their lack of professionalism through this process.
Stay away from Cartrack.
