INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF CARTRACK DEVICE LEADING TO DAMAGE TO CAR

I started having issues with the air-conditioning system in my car. My car is still under warranty so I took it to my local dealership. Upon doing a full inspection of my car, the dealership advised that the reason for the fault was that the tracker had been affixed (glued) to my air filter. This was the first issue (How on earth do you glue the tracker to a part of the car that is supposed to be changed at regular intervals and is needed for the functioning of the car?).

My dealership would have to replace the part but they could not do so until Cartrack had moved the tracking device. In addition, because this was as a result of 3rd party interference (and not normal wear and tear), the replacement of the part would not be covered under my warranty.

I then called Cartrack and advised them of the situation and another technician was sent out to investigate. The second technician came out and confirmed my dealership's assessment and told me that because it was an installation error by Cartrack, they would cover the costs of replacing the part. This was on 8 November 2025. On the same day, I sent the second technician a copy of the repair quote.

I heard nothing further from Cartrack and after multiple follow-ups from me, I was advised that I would need to pay for the repair and then claim it back from Cartrack. On 14 November 2025, I received an email requesting me to provide certain documents for the refund. I provided the requested documents in December 2025. We are now in February 2026.

Today I called Cartrack again to follow up on the refund. I started with Customer care department then was transferred to the Accounts department then back to Customer care and then that agent wanted to transfer me back to Accounts again. I then protested and advised that I had just spoken to Accounts, who confirmed that they do not assist with refunds such as mine. The agent then checked my records and advised she would send a follow up to the PIC department who is actually supposed to be dealing with my refund.

I must stress that I've made a few dozen of these calls since this all started last year and its always the same - Im sent from pillar to post with no resolution and for the most part always the one following up. I think there was maybe once when one of then many customer care agents which I dealt with actually kept her word and called me back when she said she would. Everyone else promised to get back to me and just never did. This is the second issue but my biggest one : The lack of communication and accountability on the part of Cartrack!

A particulary aggravating point is that the PIC department apparently has no telephones in it. Customer care says the can't help me but when I ask for the PIC's contact number I'm told that not even customer care can call the PIC department. The only line of communication is via email (which in my experience is useless).

I have no idea when (if ever) I will receive the money due to me as soon result of Cartrack's error or even if someone will have the decency to call me back and actually resolve this issue but at the very least people deserve to know about this.
