DEVICE INSTALLED WITHOUT OWNER'S CONSENT
I recently found out that my car had a tracking device (car track) that was installed without my consent. This was done in the Durban on 26 January 2023. I then approached the Richards Bay branch on Tuesday 14 March 2023, as I am now based there and explained what my problem was and I notified them that my movements are being tracked by this person which is invasion of my privacy and a risk to me and my family.
The lady there (Jenny) asked my to provide a copy of my log book and an affidavit confirming that the car ia mine and I did not consent to have the tracking device installed. I provide the required documents and I was told that the disactivation will be done on the same day.
To date 19 March 2023, my car is still being tracked. When I tried to enquire about the progress I was told that the Legal team is handling it.
This is rediculous and unfair in so many ways, Car Track does not care about my safety but the monthly premium that they are getting from this person. Soon, I may be found dead somewhere and Car Track will not acccount for my death while my kids will have no one to raise them.
How do you install a tracking device in someone's car without their consent or paperwork? These devices are to help protect us to expose us to culprits.
