complaint against Cartrack regarding unauthorized debit orders, poor customer service, and a potential breach of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

I was a loyal Cartrack subscriber for three years and made all my monthly payments consistently without issue. In October 2024, I received a call from a Cartrack consultant—who had all my personal details and who originally assisted me with my subscription three years prior—informing me that my contract was ending in December 2024. The consultant offered to switch me to a new contract with a monthly payment of R199, which I agreed to as it seemed to save me money. The consultant also assured me that my original debit order would be cancelled in December. However, in January and March 2025, two debit orders were withdrawn from my bank account unexpectedly. I immediately visited my bank and requested the cancellation of the debit order. When Cartrack contacted me regarding the failed debit orders, I explained the situation in detail, providing the consultant’s name and WhatsApp conversations, and requested an investigation. Instead of addressing my concerns or investigating, Cartrack representatives began calling me repeatedly with rude and urgent demands for payment. I requested that they cancel my contract due to lack of clarity and because I felt my personal information had been compromised. Despite this, I have been receiving calls daily—including Sundays, when I am at church—which I find harassing and in violation of my rights under POPIA and consumer protection laws. I do not owe Cartrack any money. I did not take out a loan or incur debt; I simply subscribed to a service and chose to cancel due to the poor handling of my account and concerns about data privacy. I am also seeking clarity on how my personal information was shared with Fidelity or any third party without my consent.
